A Managerial Officer and Surveyor of the Sicilian Region since 1989, he served until 2002 at the Civil Engineering Office of Ragusa, where he worked on the design and supervision of public works and as an instructor in procedures under Royal Decree no. 523/1904. He served as a technical surveyor during the earthquake emergency in the Basilicata and Calabria regions in 1998 at the Operational Command Centre of Lagonegro (PZ) and during the Messina earthquake emergency of 14.02.1999 at the Operational Command Centre of Patti (ME). Since 2002 he has been in service at the Presidency of the Sicilian Region - Civil Protection Department - Service for the province of Ragusa. He took part as a technical surveyor in various earthquake emergencies in Palermo and S. Venerina (CT), and during the Modica hailstorm. He was also assigned to carry out inspections and surveys for the damage census in various municipalities of the province of Messina during the 2003 landslide emergency, also being part of the design and works supervision group for some extremely urgent works on hydrogeological instability. From 2005 to the present he has been Volunteering Coordinator for the province of Ragusa, with responsibility for the operational management and coordination of volunteering in critical emergency situations and in various activities such as: Hydrogeological emergency in Vibo Valentia 2006 - Abruzzo earthquake 2009, where he was also appointed Head of the Volunteering Function of Operational Command Centre 3 of Pizzoli (AQ) - Hydrogeological emergency in Barcellona Pozzo di Gotto (ME) in 2011 - several searches for missing persons in the province of Ragusa - Wildland-urban interface fire spotting and extinguishing activities (qualified in interface fire extinguishing by the Provincial Fire Brigade Command of Ragusa). He is currently engaged in the management of volunteering for the healthcare assistance and reception of migrants disembarking at the port of Pozzallo (RG). He is included in the list of ENFAP trainers of the Sicilian Region for the modules "Basic knowledge for civil protection volunteering", and in the list of trainers of the Etnean Volunteering Service Centre of Catania and of the Regional Civil Protection Department for the course named "Basic course for civil protection volunteers" in the following modules: "Civil protection volunteering", "Planning for the search for missing persons", "Logistics fundamentals" and "Practical exercise in pitching a Ferrino tent". He is also the Single Person Responsible for the Procedure for works designed and supervised by the Regional Civil Protection Department.
